It’s actually always a good idea to have some cash on hand, no matter what.
Blackouts are a thing.
One of the first things Ronald Reagan did as President was go after FCC rules.
When radio and TV were just getting started, there was a bipartisan push to make sure no one got too much control of the airwaves. No one could own all the TV or radio stations in one town, and if you broadcast an editorial anyone who disagreed with it was given equal time to refute it.
Cable TV in the US is still under FCC control, but Reagan and the GOP worked like demons to defang it.
