Over the past year, the reactionary US president has done what the “antiwar” left has been calling for. What has this led to? Increased aggression, more civilian casualties, and more destruction. Things have only gotten worse. In this situation, I think the “antiwar” folks should have done some rethinking. But I still don’t see them doing that.

Despite the humanistic rhetoric, all proposals in practice boiled down to leaving Ukraine defenseless in the face of imperialist aggression.

Sums up the main failure of the political left quite perfectly.

      Unfotunately, it does.

I’m so tired of those self proclaimed peace mongers telling people to roll over and let it happen in the face of imperialist aggression.

It’s not peace if you don’t resist a violent attack and get violated anyway. It’s not peace if you end up under a violent oppressive regime that keeps attacking you whenever it pleases as a result of not resisting.

And enabling violent imperialist aggression and subsequent oppression in the name of “peace” for sure isn’t pacifism.

Unfortunately, that stupid performative pacifism has thoroughly discredited pretty much any self proclaimed “leftist” movement. And that now, when we’d need the political left more than ever, with a neoliberal at best, and outright right wing mainstream at worst, chipping away at our rights, livelihood, and future with ever increasing force.
