The European Broadcasting Union has confirmed it has been in contact with SVT and the Swedish representative Felicia, following comments the singer made regarding Israeli participation in Eurovision 2026.

Felicia stated in an interview with TT that she believed that Israel should not be allowed to compete in Eurovision 2026. According to the rules of the Eurovision Song Contest, artists are not allowed to take a political stance.

      I never really watch Eurovision as it happens, I tend to watch random songs later.

      I like that Australia is part of Eurovision, but never understood why Israel should be part of it.

        Membership is for broadcasting organizations whose countries are within the European Broadcasting Area, as defined by the International Telecommunication Union, or are members of the Council of Europe.

        The EBU’s Belarusian Member was suspended from the Union in May 2021. The EBU’s Russian Members were suspended from the Union in May 2022.
