People tend to avoid you less if you don’t look like a sneaky perv, so that’s another bonus. Plus, you’ll not be funding Meta and you’ll have one less piece of rubbish in a drawer somewhere that needs recycling after one month of use.

It’s one of those things that sounds great in sci-fi, like flying cars, until you realise that the world is full of awful people that immediately repurpose any new tech for filthy lucre / inflicting suffering / power grabbing.
